Hey Guys!
I have been accepted to Study Abroad in Israel for two weeks during my Winter Break and I am so excited about this amazing opportunity! Personally, I have always had an interest in Middle Eastern culture and I now have an opportunity to experience it firsthand. A huge reason for me wanting to go to Israel is for its rich history as being known as the world center of three major faiths, Judaism, Christianity and Islam! Israel boasts on its many historical religious sites among its geographical beauty and I really believe since I was raised as a Christian it would be a great opportunity for me to deeply explore it and grow in my spirituality.

Aside from my personal reasons of wanting to go on this trip, I will earn three credits at Rutgers and I will also receive credit towards my field placement for my Social Work major. To prepare for this trip I will read a list of novels to familiarize myself with the culture before I am fully immersed in it for two weeks. While in Israel, I will keep a journal of my experiences and at the end of the program, I will submit it to my professor. Once I return to the states, I will also submit a 10 page paper comparing a specific social issue in Israel to one in America. This trip will fulfill an elective course in my Social work program.
During my visit, we will be travelling a whole lot! We'll be visiting many cities including: Tel Aviv, Haifa, Jerusalem, Beersheba, Eilat, and I am excited that we will also travel to Jordan for one day to visit Petra! I'll also be attending lectures at the Hebrew University and will be visiting many facilities to take inventory of the many services Israel provides for children, the elderly, and those that are disabled.
So as you can see, this trip would be a lot of fun and a great experience for me, one that I am sure I will never forget. Although this program is offered through Rutgers, this trip is not included in my tuition. I am looking to pay for this trip myself and the cost of this trip will be around $5,000 with airfare, hotel, food, etc. If anyone would like to contribute to the cost of my trip, whether it be $1, $5, $10 or any amount, it will be a tremendous blessing!! To contribute just press donate, your donation and personal information will remain confidential.
I would also love to hear any travel tips while I Study Abroad! I will do my best to keep this blog updated by posting pictures and writing about my experiences while I am out there.
Thank you so much for visiting my page! I appreciate it!
